The Program Manager (PM) will successfully partner with the Program Leader (PL) in implementing the overall program strategy from development candidate (DC) nomination through product launch.  The candidate, together with the PL, will be responsible for creating and maintaining an integrated development plan that will be used to identify interdependencies and risk assessment.  The PM will also be responsible for building high-functioning Product Development Teams (PDTs) delivering on corporate strategy and goals.  The position will report into the Head of Program and Portfolio Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide operational leadership and establish processes to execute on the overall program strategy
  • Develop and maintain integrated program level timeline tracking key cross-functional deliverables
  • Drives PDT objective setting and tracks overall program progress
  • Leads, along with PL, risk management and mitigation planning that may impact program timelines
  • Identifies work-flow challenges/bottlenecks and makes recommendations for improved processes
  • Facilitates PDT meetings, provides regular timeline status reports, creates agendas/minutes and ensures accountability for action items
  • Contributes to establishment of effective sub team structure and function
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and to key internal and external stakeholders/governance
  • Collaborate with finance in defining budget and aligning on LRP models
  • Manages, along with alliance management, development activities with external strategic partners
  • Fosters team building through a culture of mentoring and coaching more junior PDT members
  • Builds strong relationships with team members to create an environment of mutual respect, trust, and delivery of exceptional results
  • Assists with creation and maintenance of web-based program team pages (SharePoint) and broader communication tools to executive leadership

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • M.S. or Ph.D. preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Previous participation in a successful biotherapeutic program from IND submission through clinical development
  • Knowledge of oncology or cancer immunotherapy drug development process/principles
  • Thrives working in a matrixed, team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with internal and external teams
  • Strong presentation skills to audiences of all levels and technical abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with close attention to detail
  • Well-organized and able to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solid understanding of the applications, principles, concepts, practices, and standards of pharmaceutical project management
